SUMMARY
A question I get asked again and again when I deliver a keynote is: “Chris, what about alcohol? What’s your best tip about alcohol?” And my answer is always this: “Drink alcohol as early as possible in the morning or in the early afternoon” and this is always a big laugh in the crowd and people celebrate, but it’s not a joke. I really mean it, let me explain: Alcohol is probably the most frequently used and ebb used sleep aid, because what it does is, it reduces our sleep onset latency, which is the time we need to fall asleep. And this sounds good at first, especially for those people who suffer from a racing mind before they hit the sheets, but the price that we pay for this is super high, because with alcohol in our blood, we cannot fall into deep sleep. We sacrifice our most restorative sleep stage, deep sleep. So if you drink alcohol, please do it as early as possible so your body can or has enough time to wear it off, and you can hit the sheets sober and are perfectly prepared to get sufficient deep sleep. Will you try it out? Comment YES if would do…
